Illinois Incentives

Illinois has a goal of attaining a renewable energy portfolio of 40% by 2030. One way Illinois incentivizes the growth of renewable energy is by providing homeowners who purchase solar renewable energy certificates known as SREC credits. SREC credits is a method for Illinois to measure the amount of energy produced by renewable sources. 1,000 kWh in solar electricity is equivalent to one SREC certificate. Federal Incentives

Since fossil fuels will not last forever, alternative sources of producing energy are required. Luckily, the United States is incentivizing homeowners to go solar by offering a 26% federal tax credit for 2022. The tax credit isn't forever so its best for homeowners to take advantage of this benefit sooner than later. Not every homeowner qualifies for a tax credit.
